12 Reasons Our Recruitment Service Is Not Right for You

Nobody wants another recruitment consultancy blathering on about how they’re different, how their network is better than all the others, or how they really care about you and your business.

We do believe those things about ourselves, but rather than bang on about it, we thought we’d shine a light on the reasons NOT to work with us, so you can better understand if we’re the right fit for you and your organisation.

Fear not, this isn’t going to be a thinly veiled pitch, full of double negatives like “don’t work with us if you DON’T want the right candidate!” 🙄 These really are good reasons why you shouldn’t work with us (and why we might not work with you.)

Here goes nothing… 😬

1. You're looking for a quick fix.

Filling a critical role within your company isn't something to be rushed - finding the perfect candidate is a marathon, not a sprint. Our service is a deep-dive approach, meticulously finding the right person for your unique needs. We need your understanding that this process takes time and dedication.

If you're expecting overnight miracles, we might not be able to fulfil those expectations.

2. You're hesitant to invest in recruitment.

While we offer an exceptionally high quality of service, we realise it's not a one-size-fits-all approach. If your budget is tight and you're looking for a less intensive recruitment solution, we understand.

However, investing in the right recruitment partner is crucial for long-term success, and our service offers unparalleled value in finding the perfect match for your company's future.

3. You're unsure of your exact needs.

A blurred vision makes for a blurry outcome. Before we embark on a candidate search, we need a crystal-clear understanding of your specific requirements. This includes delving into the position's scope, desired skills and experience, and the company Mission, Vision and Vales.

If these details are fuzzy, we wouldn't be able to serve you to the best of our abilities.

If you need help figuring that out, then we can wrap that into the service we provide - you need to be prepared to put the work in with us to transform that vision from blurry to 20/20.

4. Feedback is not your forte.

We're specialists, but even the most seasoned professionals can't guarantee each candidate we introduce during the process will be a 10 out of 10. Openness to feedback is crucial for us to tailor the process and ensure we're on the right track.

But we need you to deliver it in a timely fashion.

And if you're not comfortable on the receiving end of some constructive criticism, then our collaborative approach might rub you the wrong way.

5. Change is not your friend.

Sometimes, finding the ideal candidate involves tweaking your existing recruitment process and/or getting real about your employer value proposition.

We're not shy about recommending changes to attract a wider pool of qualified candidates, like revamping your job descriptions, refining your interview process, or revisiting your compensation packages.

If you're resistant to change, maximising the success of our service will be challenging.

6. New hires are left to fend for themselves.

Even the most capable candidate needs a welcoming and supportive onboarding experience. We encourage you to invest in effective onboarding and training programs to set your new hire on the path to success.

If this doesn't resonate with your current approach, we won’t be able to ignore the red flags, and won’t want to put our candidates into something we don’t believe will be a positive experience.

7. Employee retention is an afterthought.

High employee turnover is a costly affair for any company. We prioritise working with clients who are dedicated to fostering a positive work environment and valuing their employees.

This ensures a stronger match for candidates and greater long-term benefits for your company.

8. Your recruitment process needs some serious TLC.

A well-defined recruitment process is the backbone of successful candidate acquisition. It streamlines the hiring process, ensures consistency in evaluation, and enhances candidate experience. If your recruitment process is riddled with inconsistencies, lacks transparency, or fails to align with your company culture, it's time for an overhaul.

Our recruitment service includes a comprehensive assessment of your existing recruitment process. We'll identify areas for improvement, recommend practical solutions, and help you implement the necessary changes to streamline your hiring efforts and attract the right talent.

Remember, a robust recruitment process is an investment in your company's future success.

9. Collaboration isn't your cup of tea.

We firmly believe in the power of partnership. We'll work hand-in-hand with you to understand your unique needs and uncover those hidden gems amongst potential candidates. This collaboration is a crucial driver for success, and if you're not comfortable with sharing insights and working as a partnership, we’ll have concerns that the same may be true for how you interact with your team.

10. You see recruitment as transactional, rather than a partnership.

We believe in building long-term relationships with our clients. By understanding your company culture and team dynamics, we can paint a clearer picture of your needs and consistently deliver exceptional results. We are confident that our service can be a game-changer for your company.

We'll diligently source and present the most qualified candidates, and support you every step of the way. However, if you're just looking for a spread of CVs from multiple agencies as quickly as possible, we’ll politely decline the project.

11. Decision-making authority is shrouded in mystery.

Clear and defined decision-making authority is essential for efficient hiring. If you're unsure who has the final say on candidate selection, it can lead to delays, confusion, and ultimately, missed opportunities to secure the best talent.

We'll work with you to establish a transparent and streamlined decision-making process, ensuring that everyone involved has a clear understanding of their role and the timeline for making hiring decisions.

This clarity fosters efficiency and ensures that the right person is always at the table when it comes to selecting the best fit for your team.

12. Internal approval hangs in the balance.

Before embarking on a candidate search, it's crucial to secure the necessary internal approvals to proceed. If the budget hasn't been finalised or if key decision-makers haven't weighed in on the role's requirements, it can delay or even derail the entire hiring process.

Our service involves working closely with all necessary stakeholders. We'll be giving recommendations on budget, brief, interview process, and hiring timeline. Everyone needs to be in alignment before we go to market.

Sounds like a dream come true?

You’ve got this far, which means you’re either outraged or you’re thinking, “this Expocast lot sounds alright!”

Assuming it’s the latter - awesome! We know we’re picky about who we work with, but that’s because we’re conscious that the work we do can be life changing for those involved, so it has to be done right.
